Dear Friends, Colleagues and Participants,

 

On behalf of the EAsDEC board members and the local Organising committee, it is my pleasure to extend a warm and cordial welcome to all of you to the 34th EUROPEAN ASSOCIATION FOR DIABETIC EYE COMPLICATIONS (EAsDEC) Meeting, which will be hosted in the beautiful city of Milan, Italy.

 

We are truly excited to host this prestigious meeting, where ophthalmologists, diabetologists, researchers, healthcare professionals and experts in the field of diabetic retinopathy from across Europe and beyond, will converge to share their latest research, insights, and experience with the scope to advance knowledge and improve patient care. The EAsDEC Meeting will feature an esteemed lineup of keynote speakers, interactive panel discussions, paper and poster sessions, with the aim to explore cutting-edge basic science and clinical research and foster collaboration among the global community committed to combating vision loss due to diabetic retinopathy, and ameliorate the quality of life of the patients.

We are also excited to mark a special occasion - the 100th Anniversary of the University of Milan. Founded in 1924, the University of Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano La Statale) has been a beacon of knowledge, research, and academic excellence. This centennial milestone is a testament to the University's enduring commitment to education, innovation, and the pursuit of knowledge. We have the privilege of being hosted by the University of Milan that has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape, not just in Italy but also on the international scale.

BRIEF PRESENTATION OF THE CONGRESS


EASDEC organizes an annual scientific meeting that attracts a diverse group of researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals. The meeting features a wide range of topics covering all aspects of diabetes eye complications, including epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. The meeting also provides a forum for networking and collaboration among attendees.

EASDEC is also committed to advocacy efforts aimed at improving public awareness and understanding of diabetes eye complications. The association collaborates with patient organizations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to raise awareness of the importance of early detection and treatment, and to promote policies that support diabetes prevention and management.
