36th Annual Conference

May 28 - 30th, 2026
Oslo, Norway

The upcoming 36th EASDEC conference will in 2026 be held in Oslo, the beautiful capital of Norway.

Due to its location between sea and deep forests, it is often referred to as “The blue, the green, and
the city in between”. It is an honor for the organizing committee to invite you here in the intense
season of transition between spring and summer, as the dates for the convention are set from May
28th to May 30th of 2026.

The Norwegian ophthalmological milieu and our diabetes patients owe a great debt of gratitude to
both WHO (through its representative of the European region, Jill Farrington) and EAsDEC, as our
political guidelines for a follow-up system of people with diabetes finally were set in 2018, ensuring a
fair healthcare provision and a reduced risk for sight loss. The work of WHO is in line with EAsDEC's
primary agenda, preventing sight loss from diabetic retinopathy through systematic monitoring and
timely treatment.

We will do our very best to continue this unique European meeting platform in the pioneering spirit
of Eva Kohner. It is our sincere intention to facilitate the exchange of professional ideas ultimately
benefiting the diabetes population, through this combination of lecturing and low-threshold social
mingling. Oslo is luckily still a safe spot in these European troubled times.

A warmer, analogue welcome awaits registered participants. The venue is just about to be set. In the
meantime, I recommend remembering the dates. Program will follow sometime next year.
